September 2012 - The Royal Adelaide Show

The Royal Adelaide Show is South Australia's biggest annual event held each September bringing with it a wealth of entertainment. Experiences range from carnival rides and attractions to exquisite handicraft, cookery and a wide variety of champion livestock, animals, wood chopping and a variety of ring events like the Grand Parade during the days and into the early night. There are also fireworks each night.

- A Classic Run
This event sees more than 1,500 Classic vehicles wind their way through metropolitan Adelaide and into the Adelaide Hills.

he 2011 Classic run will be for vehicles manufactured between 1 January 1956 and 31 December 1977.

The Vintage Run (2012) will be for vehicles manufactured on or before 31 December 1955. Classic Run in 2009 will be for vehicles manufactured post 1st January 1957 and at least 30 years old.

Don't miss this two-hour parade of classic vehicles, finishing at the National Motor Museum at Birdwood in the Adelaide Hills.

More than 100,000 spectators will line the 70-kilometre route to watch this motoring spectacle pass, from the breakfast start to the finish line in the Adelaide Hills at The Birdwood Motor Museum.

Santos Tour Down Under

adelaide events - Jacob's Creek Tour Down Under The Tour Down Under, now entering its 13th year, is an internationally renowned annual cycling race attracting leading professional Eurpean teams. The 700 odd-kilometre race will have six stages and is run in January each year.

In February 2006 it received Australian Sports Tourism Award of the year.

 

"The Tour Down Under is undoubtedly Australia's premier cycling event. It attracts around 100 of the world's best road cyclists to compete for the coveted Jacob's Creek Yellow Jersey," he says.

"The 2012 route will no doubt challenge the cyclists, test their fitness and provide some great viewing spots for around 470,000 spectators who line the streets each year to cheer on the cyclists.

Expect fierce competition among towns and suburbs as they dress up their streets, shops and homes for the title of 'Best Dressed Town'

First held in 1999, the Tour Down Under is a world-class road cycling race staged over a six-day duration, featuring stage starts and finishes in key locations throughout Adelaide and regional South Australia.
